The purchasing agent works under the direction of the vice president of operations who runs the production facility and also reports to the president. This employee must effectively work with project managers for scheduling and with the purchasing and production data entry team for applying material cuttings and matching receiving tickets. Expected to develop a system of analysis for purchasing multiple projects within vendor requirements. Must ensure timely paperwork of mill purchases, accurate entry for orders from mills and steel warehouses. Must coordinate with shop and material suppliers for timely deliveries of material orders. Purchasing manager must communicate effectively with material sources and internal departments regarding schedules, cost/budget restraints, and specific material requirements, and inventory control. It is necessary to be able to handle transactions with a sense of urgency, while finding the most effective material purchasing solution for the company. This employee must be an ambassador for SteelFab in ethics, quality, and professionalism.

| Additional Requirements:
Responsibilities: Regular and professional communication with vendors and internal departments. Utilize all of SteelFab's resources with financial responsibility to ensure the best possible outcome for the customer and project. Obtain necessary information from internal departments for purchasing requisitions, checking order accuracy, data/purchase order entry into tracking software. Determine potential suppliers based on their ability to support a quality product within the schedule and cost requirements of the job. Validate, enter and code receiving tickets, invoices. Contact all suppliers to coordinate deliveries from suppliers to SteelFab per job and plant requirements. Maintain multiple vendor contacts for updated pricing information. Checks all material test reports or coordinates documenting results. Update unit price file of steel material prices through software for company and estimating use. Track and provide all records necessary for LEED projects (recycled content, source control). Deal honestly, ethically, professionally, and fairly with customers and suppliers. Lead in taking periodic physical inventory, manage inventory for the company. Education & Experience: Minimum high school diploma with 3 years experience in purchasing or related support field. FabTrol (software) and/or steel buying experience for structural steel is considered a plus. Continuing education in technology training and leadership development skills is strongly encouraged. |
